CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist – COAST (Enhanced £45k Recruitment & Retention Package) A senior leadership opportunity within crisis CAMHS, offering intensive home treatment work, strong system influence and a £45,000 Recruitment & Retention Package. Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join COAST (Crisis Outreach Acute Support Team), based at Chalkhill Hospital, Haywards Heath. This is a pivotal consultant role at the interface of inpatient and community CAMHS services, supporting young people in crisis to remain safely at home wherever possible. About the role COAST provides intensive home treatment and crisis outreach for young people across Mid Sussex, holding an active caseload of approximately 12–20 young people at any one time. The team works closely with inpatient units, community CAMHS and the Southern Counties Provider Collaborative to reduce avoidable admissions and improve outcomes for children and young people experiencing acute mental health crises. You will provide senior psychiatric leadership within a well-established multidisciplinary team including nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, systemic therapy, social work and creative therapies. The role offers real opportunity to shape crisis pathways, strengthen system relationships and influence service development across CAMHS. Recruitment & Retention Package This post attracts a £45,000 Recruitment & Retention Package structured over three years. Payment is pro rata for part-time working. Relocation support may also be available subject to policy. Key responsibilities
Senior psychiatric assessment and management of complex crisis presentations Medication management and specialist clinical formulation Responsible Clinician duties under the Mental Health Act where required Clinical supervision of junior medical staff Participation in the CAMHS Consultant on-call rota (currently 1:9 with compensatory rest) Visible clinical leadership across daily handovers, reviews and system escalation discussions Contribution to service redesign, audit and quality improvement

About you You will be GMC-registered with CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (or within six months) and Approved Clinician status or willingness to obtain.
