CAD/CAM Engineer / Programmer - Manufacturing Overview

We are seeking a motivated CAD/CAM Engineer / Programmer to support manufacturing operations by developing accurate and efficient CNC programs, 3D models, and tooling strategies. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure parts are programmed, set up, and manufactured safely, on time, and to specification. Key Responsibilities Develop and optimise CAD models and CAM programs for CNC machining operations Generate toolpaths, workholding strategies, and setup documentation for production Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications Support new product introduction and continuous improvement initiatives Collaborate with machinists and operators to test programs and resolve shop floor issues Select cutting tools, speeds/feeds, and machining strategies to maximise quality and efficiency Maintain version control of programs, models, and documentation Contribute to cost reduction, cycle time improvement, and scrap minimisation Support root cause analysis for dimensional or quality issues Ensure compliance with company procedures and relevant industry standards Skills & Experience Experience in CAD/CAM programming within a manufacturing environment (CNC milling and/or turning) Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and workholding Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T Experience creating 3D models and toolpaths for complex components Problem-solving mindset and practical approach on the shop floor Strong communication and teamwork skills Software Experience with Fusion 360 is advantageous Familiarity with other CAD/CAM platforms (e.g., Mastercam, Edgecam, Hypermill, SolidCAM) is xehkeey also considered Knowledge of post processors and G-code verification is beneficial Qualifications (Preferred, Not Essential) Qualification in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline Apprenticeship or time-served background in machining Experience in precision engineering, aerospace, automotive, medical, or similar sectors What We Offer Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per year Opportunity to develop advanced CAD/CAM and CNC manufacturing skills Exposure to varied and technically interesting projects Supportive team environment
