Salary: £35,000 £45,000 (DOE) / Competitive Hourly Rates

The Opportunity

Are you a skilled craftsman with a passion for working with fine timber?

We are recruiting for an experienced Cabinet Maker to join a prestigious workshop near Taunton. Our client is renowned for producing high-end, bespoke furniture and architectural joinery for luxury residential projects across Somerset and the South West.

This is a role for a true makersomeone who takes pride in traditional techniques while being proficient with modern machinery to create pieces that last a lifetime.

The Role

Working within a highly equipped workshop, your responsibilities will include:

  • Bespoke Fabrication: Crafting one-off pieces of furniture, luxury kitchens, and high-end fitted joinery from technical drawings.

  • Material Selection: Selecting and preparing premium hardwoods, veneers, and sheet materials.

  • Assembly & Hand Finishing: Executing complex joints (dovetails, mortise and tenon) and ensuring an impeccable sanded or sprayed finish.

  • Machinery Operation: Safe use of panel saws, spindle moulders, planers, and CNC machinery where applicable.

  • Installation: Occasional site visits to ensure the final fit is as perfect as the workshop build.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Proven Craftsmanship: Extensive experience in cabinet making or high-end bench joinery.

  • Technical Accuracy: Ability to read and interpret detailed CAD drawings and cutting lists.

  • Eye for Detail: A \"perfectionist\" mindset with a deep understanding of wood movement and grain matching.

  • Tool Kit: Must be confident using both traditional hand tools and industrial workshop machinery.

  • Local to Somerset: Ideally based within a commutable distance of Taunton, Bridgwater, or Wellington.
