We are working with an established Food business in recruiting a newly created position within their global purchasing operations.
We are partnering with a well-known and recognised Food business, which has been supplying to the UK's major supermarkets for over 45 years.
As the Buyer, you will be responsible for leading sourcing and negotiation on a range of Food finished goods and Ingredients. Our client's supply base is truly global, with suppliers in 16 countries across the Far East, North Africa, and South America.
You will play a key role in establishing excellent relationships with the niche supply base, coordinating robust and efficient supply chains, and developing procurement strategies aligned with the wider business and customer needs.
Buyer Responsibilities:
- Supplier Management: Select and manage suppliers through identification, evaluation, quality control, and risk assessment, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations.
- Procurement Strategies: Develop and implement global procurement strategies, optimising costs through negotiation of contracts, terms, and pricing.
- Negotiation: Utilise skills to negotiate the best prices, payment terms, and deals from suppliers.
Experience Required:
- Strategic procurement experience, ideally within the Food, FMCG, or Finished Goods industry.
- Experience managing global suppliers, ensuring value optimization and supply chain efficiency, building strong relationships, and ensuring continuous flow.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of international shipping, duties, and delivery processes is beneficial.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Strong IT skills, confident with spreadsheets.
Our client is based in Surrey and requires 4 days in the office per week, with Fridays WFH.
