Business Development Manager – Food Industry


Hybrid – Office & Field Based (UK) | Full-Time


We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager with experience in the food industry to join our growing organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and driving revenue growth.


Working closely with the Head of Sales & Marketing, you will support key commercial initiatives and play an important role in expanding our market presence.


This is a hybrid role, requiring travel to the office approximately three days per week, depending on client visits and business requirements.


Key Responsibilities


  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, networking, and lead generation.


  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to expand the organisation’s client base.


  • Achieve and exceed sales targets and KPIs set by the business.


  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing clients, identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.


  • Prepare and deliver proposals, presentations, and sales pitches tailored to client needs.


  • Support the Head of Sales & Marketing with strategic initiatives and business development activities.


  • Work closely with the marketing team on campaigns that generate leads and support brand growth.


  • Maintain an active professional presence on social media (particularly LinkedIn) to help promote the business and build industry connections.


  • Utilise CRM software (HubSpot) to track leads, manage customer interactions, and monitor sales performance.


  • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking meetings to represent the organisation and build new relationships.


Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities and potential risks.


Skills & Experience


  • Proven experience in business development or sales, ideally within the food industry or a related sector.


  • A strong track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.


  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.


  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities.


  • Experience using CRM platforms (HubSpot preferred) and Microsoft Office.


  • Comfortable using LinkedIn and social media for professional networking and brand visibility.


  • Self-motivated, proactive, and target-driven.


  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for client meetings.
