Business Development Manager, Newcastle (Hybrid)
£35k - £50k, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience. Our client is a rapidly growing and award-winning software house working in the engineering and renewables sector. They are looking for a Business Development Manager from either a Renewables (Wind, Solar, etc.), Software / SaaS or Sales / Business Development background, or a combination of all three.
The role has customers ready to purchase the software on a global basis. Your role is to follow up on these leads as well as approach further companies and stakeholders in this space, developing these relationships, leading to sales which are typically for long contracts.

The role of Business Development Manager : We are looking for a forward and original thinking Business Development Manager who understands engineering, ideally offshore, and if you have software experience that would be amazing but not mandatory.
* Team based and collaborative
* Commercially aware and enjoy building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* A thorough knowledge and understanding of the offshore wind sector would be amazing
* Potential for a global customer base who would purchase longterm-subsciptions.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities for the role of Business Development Manager :
* Make sales of subscription-based products and services
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders
* Find and maximise potential sales opportunities
* Take ownership of consultancy and subscription proposals
* Advise on pricing, contracts, payment terms with a win-win approach
* IT literate, MSOffice, CRM (and how to get the best out of it and the data on it)
* Become a sector expert and network “go to”
* Represent and present at conferences, innovation days, online, panels
Forward looking market and sector research.
The Person - Knowledge, skills and experience (not all mandatory of course) :
* Fantastic spoken and written communications
* Commercial acumen and awareness
* Track record of relationship building
* Able to negotiate and close a sale as well as having sound contract management skills
* Sales and marketing theory, analytical and research skills as well as analysing sales data
* Negotiating IP licensing agreements, and balancing the various benefits and risks in complex value-chains
* Engineering expertise and experience in an area relevant to the company
* Innovation funding landscape, bidding and securing would be a bonus.
