Job Description

Business Development Manager - Commercial Heat Pumps - London/Southeast UK (Flexible) - OTE £100,000+ (Uncapped) + Car

We are working with a well-established engineering business operating within the distributed energy sector, delivering energy solutions across the UK and Europe. The business has developed its own proprietary range of high-efficiency commercial heat pumps and is now investing in the commercial team to grow this area.

The Role

This is a new business development role focused on the commercial and district heating heat pump market. The role is product-led so the emphasis is on technical credibility, relationship quality, and commercial execution.

You will be expected to develop and manage your own pipeline, targeting commercial property developers, facilities managers, housing associations, district heating scheme operators, and public sector clients, with full support from an internal engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business development across the commercial heat pump and district heating markets
  • Build relationships with consultants, developers, facilities managers, housing associations, and public sector clients
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through to specification, tender, and close
  • Present and position the heat pump technology effectively against competing solutions
  • Develop and maintain your own pipeline through proactive outreach, events, and referral networks
  • Work with the technical team on proposals, tenders, and project delivery

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven sales experience in commercial heat pumps or district heating, in a current or recent role
  • Background from a manufacturer, specialist distributor, or consultancy such as Pure Thermal, Clade Engineering, Daikin, or similar
  • Good working knowledge of the market drivers behind demand including carbon reduction targets, planning requirements, and building regulations
  • Comfortable engaging with M&E consultants, engineers, and project managers as well as commercial decision makers
  • Self-motivated with a track record of building and converting your own pipeline
  • Full UK driving licence
