We are currently partnering with a market-leading Insurance company, to recruit a Business Development Lead. This role serves as the local partnerships "hunter" for a specific geography, responsible for developing and delivering the local partnership pipeline in line with the wider Wholesale strategy.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Manage the full business development lifecycle, from market research and opportunity validation through deal closure and handover to implementation and success teams.
  • Develop and execute the local partnership strategy, ensuring alignment with the wider Wholesale strategic objectives, targets, and growth ambitions.
  • Deliver against individual partnership targets across white-label, co-brand, and affiliate models, supporting broader Business Development goals.
  • Conduct market research and benchmarking to identify, validate, and prioritise partnership opportunities aligned to the defined target partner list.
  • Lead high-level due diligence and qualification of prospective partners, assessing strategic fit, commercial viability, and alignment with group objectives.
  • Own prospecting and partner engagement, including proposition structuring, positioning, pitching, commercial negotiation, and contract completion.
  • Translate partner requirements into actionable business cases, collaborating with internal teams on product design, commercial models, service delivery, and financial modelling aligned to revenue, margin, and IRR targets.
  • Engage Partnerships Success Leads and Agreement Leads early to ensure continuity, accurate requirement capture, and successful deal execution.
  • Ensure comprehensive handover to Transition and Partnerships Success teams, supporting seamless onboarding and operational readiness.


The ideal candidate:


  • Insurance industry experience.
  • Proven experience identifying, qualifying, and securing strategic, revenue-generating distribution partnerships, including complex commercial negotiations and deal closure.
  • Strong understanding of the local market landscape, dynamics, and trends, with the ability to spot and prioritise high-value opportunities.
  • Demonstrated capability to build robust business cases and financial models aligned to revenue, margin, and IRR targets.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills, including pitching and presenting to senior internal and external audiences.
