The Role

We are seeking a Chartered Surveyor (Team Leader) to take on a senior leadership role within our Capital Projects team. This position is designed for a professional who balances technical expertise with a natural aptitude for leadership, overseeing a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties.

You will lead a small, dedicated team delivering refurbishment schemes and professional consultancy services, with individual project values reaching upwards of £4 million.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development: Act as the line manager for a team of surveyors and serve as the RICS APC Supervisor for apprentices and graduates, guiding them toward chartership.

Project Oversight: Manage the full project lifecycle, from initial diagnosis and design to specification writing and contract administration using the JCT suite of contracts.

Regulatory Compliance: Serve as a technical lead on modern legislation, specifically the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023.

Strategic Advice: Provide professional surveying advice to various stakeholders, ensuring all works meet statutory requirements, including fire safety, CDM 2015, and Net Zero carbon targets.

Requirements

Qualifications: You must be a fully qualified RICS Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS)

Safety Expertise: Extensive experience in fire safety and the practical application of the Building Safety Act. You must be able to evaluate complex risks and provide authoritative guidance on compliance.

Contract Management: Proficiency in managing contractors, negotiating contractual disputes, and exercising strict financial control over project budgets.

*

Technical Skills: Competency in AutoCAD (or similar) and the Microsoft Office suite (including MS Project) is essential.

*

Mobility: A full driving licence is required to facilitate site visits across the regional asset portfolio
