Building Control Surveyor

Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Building Control Surveyor to work with Manchester City Council on an interim assignment. This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week (Mon – Fri).
The incoming Building Control Surveyor will play a key role in ensuring safe, inclusive and climate-responsive development across the city. The incoming candidate will take the technical lead on building control projects, acting as a subject matter expert and driving service delivery standards across the team.
Main Duties
* Examine building plans and conduct inspections on a wide range of projects (excluding Class 3)
* Lead on major projects, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and client requirements
* Manage plan checking, site inspections, and enforcement relating to dangerous structures and public safety
* Prepare detailed reports and legal notices as required
* Mentor and support junior surveyors/engineers and contribute to team development
* Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out service
Essential Criteria
* Hold a degree or equivalent qualification in a construction-related discipline such as Building Surveying, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Architecture
* Chartered membership of a recognised building control professional body (e.g., MCABE, MCIOB, MRICS, MIStructE, CEng)
