Senior Building Control Surveyor – South West based Local Authority £59,059 - £62,669 37 hours per week 6-month rolling contract (likely extension)

We are currently recruiting for a Building Control Surveyor at Class 3H to join a Council’s Building Regulations & Standards Team on a permanent basis in the South West. This role will play a crucial part in the enforcement of Building Regulations under the Building Safety Act 2022, acting as a Registered Building Inspector and technical lead on complex and high-risk projects across the city.

Responsibilities Lead on Building Control applications from pre-application stage through to completion, acting as a technical expert and case officer for major developments. Represent the Council as part of multi-disciplinary teams for the Building Safety Regulator (BSR), particularly on High-Risk Buildings (HRBs). Interpret legislation, Central Government guidance and Building Control policy, including providing representation at appeals and court proceedings where required. Drive a collaborative approach between developers, consultants, and council officers to ensure safe, compliant, and buildable designs.
