The Role
We are seeking an experienced BMS Commissioning Engineer to join our team in the North West, playing a key role in the successful delivery of building management system projects across a variety of sites. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from initial sales handover through to final commissioning and close-out, working closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and subcontractors. You will be responsible not only for the technical and commissioning aspects of projects, but also for ensuring commercial performance, programme delivery, and compliance with health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities
You will work closely with the sales team to fully understand the scope of works, client requirements, and project specifications following handover. You will manage the financial and commercial performance of your projects, ensuring they remain aligned with agreed sales budgets, including the preparation and submission of payment applications and variations. Acting as the main point of contact for clients, you will build and maintain strong working relationships while responding to all project-related queries.
You will be responsible for ensuring all project documentation is completed in line with company policies and procedures, alongside taking overall responsibility for health and safety management on your projects. The role also involves monitoring and reporting on project progress, delays, and resource allocation to the Operations Manager and support teams, as well as coordinating with Commissioning Engineers and other internal staff. In addition, you will manage the procurement of materials and oversee subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in project management within the construction industry, with specific experience in BMS and control systems
Strong ability to produce and manage programmes of works
Valid CSCS or ECS site card
Experience working with different forms of contract; contractual knowledge is beneficial
Competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail
A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
