A highly regarded design studio is seeking a Middleweight Bespoke Furniture Designer to join its growing team, supporting the design and delivery of bespoke furniture across high end residential and hospitality projects.
Position
The Midddleweight Furniture Designer sits within a specialist bespoke team and offers the opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of furniture design, from early concept development through to technical resolution, supplier coordination and production.
The position requires a balanced approach between creativity and technical understanding. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of bespoke pieces that are not only visually considered, but also functional, buildable and aligned with wider project requirements.
Working closely with interior design, FF&E and procurement teams, this role plays a key part in ensuring bespoke elements are fully integrated within the overall scheme. The position involves managing multiple packages simultaneously, maintaining organisation and clarity while responding to feedback and evolving design requirements.
This is an opportunity for a designer who is confident taking ownership of smaller packages or individual pieces, while continuing to develop within a collaborative and design led environment.
Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a considered and detail-driven designer, with the ability to contribute across both creative and technical stages of the design process.
- 3 to 6 years’ experience in bespoke furniture design within the interior design sector
- A strong portfolio showcasing bespoke loose furniture across high end residential or hospitality projects
- A well rounded understanding of furniture design, including materials, construction methods, proportions and ergonomics
- The ability to contribute across both concept design and technical development stages
- Experience producing presentation drawings, design development packages and supporting documentation
- Confidence coordinating with suppliers and reviewing technical drawings to ensure alignment with design intent
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal, with a collaborative and open approach
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, with additional experience in 3D modelling and rendering such as Cinema 4D or SketchUp
- A proactive, reliable and solutions focused mindset
- A positive attitude, with the ability to take on feedback and adapt within a fast paced environment
Studio
The studio is recognised for its refined and highly detailed approach to interiors, with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship, materiality and bespoke design.
The team operates in a collaborative and supportive environment, where designers are encouraged to contribute ideas, take ownership of their work and develop their technical and creative skillset over time.
With a growing pipeline of high end residential and hospitality projects, the studio offers exposure to complex and design led schemes, alongside opportunities for progression and continued development within bespoke furniture design.
