Job Role : Theatre Bar Supervisor (Part-Time).
Hours : Part-time. Hours vary throughout the calendar year. You will be on duty whenever the Theatre Bar is open to Club Members and/or to the public, which includes evenings, weekends, and a small number of daytime events all spread across the Calendar Year. The Theatre hosts a full programme of amateur and professional plays, musicals, concerts and other performances during the year as well as private parties and Members events, such as New Years Eve.
Salary : £14 - £16 per hour, dependant on skills and experience.
Background :
The Southport Dramatic Club is a Registered Charity that owns and operates the Little Theatre Southport complex on Hoghton Street in Southport, Merseyside. The Club has over 400 volunteer Members, including a Board of Trustees, an Executive Committee and a number of Sub-Committees.
Job Description :
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in and running a licensed premises. You will be responsible to the Trustees and work closely with the Clubs Bar Committee.
The duties are interesting and varied, including: -
Creating a welcoming environment for customers and ensuring the customer has the best possible experience
Ensuring consistent, high quality beverages are served to customers
Working in liaison with the Southport Dramatic Club Volunteer Bar Committee as well as Officers and Members of the club
Stock Control Ordering of beverages and bar snacks from suppliers, receive and process incoming stock deliveries, organise stock to ensure no waste, correctly storing and date rotation of stock, accepting and checking of supplier deliveries, maintaining stock controls recording movements of stock
All aspects of the day-to-day running of the bar, including preparing and serving beverages and bar snacks, overseeing the cleanliness of the physical bar area and stores and paying attention to possible health hazards and regulation violations, in particular in relation to alcohol service
Regular beer line cleaning, maintaining beer dispensers and quality checks, keeping records of any wastage, ensuring that cellar equipment is in full working order and functioning effectively, reporting any faults in a timely manner
Providing a high level of customer service to members of the public and Club Members alike, serving drinks and bar snacks, supporting, training and working alongside volunteers, welcoming customers, taking on board feedback
Security of the premises - Ensuring the security of the bar area and theatre premises, especially when locking up at close of business
Ensuring the bar opens and closes at the designated times

Qualifications and Essential Skills:
To apply for this job you must be aged over 18 years due to licence regulations
A Personal Licence, or the willingness to obtain one, is desirable
A minimum of two years experience of Bar experience
You will have excellent practical bartending skills and a solid knowledge of beverages and bar operations, including knowledge of licensing laws and the confidence to enforce them
Proven excellent Customer Service skills
Ability to run the bar effectively and efficiently, adhering to all Health & Safety standards and other regulations
Proven excellent interpersonal skills
Flexible, including willingness to adapt working patterns to suit theatre calendar
Experience of working as part of a team
Excellent organisational skills
Desirable Skills:
Understanding of Health & Safety legislation in relation to Licenced Premises
Other Requirements :
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
On appointment, there will be a Probation Period of six months.
If selected for interview, these are scheduled to take place on Friday 5th September.
