Banking Solicitor (NQ) – Elite US Firm, London
Location: London (Office-based with flexible working in line with team needs)
Salary: $225,000 (Cravath scale)
The Role
We are delighted to be partnering with the London office of a prestigious Wall Street law firm to recruit a newly qualified Banking Solicitor to join their highly regarded and expanding Banking & Finance team. This is an exceptional opportunity to work alongside leading partners and associates on high-profile, cross-border transactions for major financial institutions, funds, and corporate clients.

Our client is one of the most respected New York law firms, recognised for its market-leading work across banking, leveraged finance and capital markets The London office is a key hub for the firm’s global finance practice and is known for its sophisticated, high-intensity deal environment and the highest standards of legal excellence. The firm offers extensive training, close partner contact, first-rate resources, and the opportunity to work on complex, headline-making matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with a wide range of domestic and cross-border financing transactions, including leveraged finance, acquisition finance, syndicated lending, and general corporate lending.
- Acting predominantly for lender-side clients (major banks, investment banks, and credit funds).
- Drafting and negotiating loan agreements, security documents, and ancillary financing documentation.
- Managing workstreams, conditions precedent checklists, and transaction closings.
- Supporting senior lawyers on larger and complex financing structures.
- Coordinating with colleagues across global offices and other practice groups.
- Ensuring effective matter management, time recording, and client communication.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious NQ solicitor seeking exposure to high-end transactional banking work within one of the most respected finance teams in the world.
Key Requirements
- England & Wales or Commonwealth qualified solicitor with a seat in Banking & Finance.
- Experience in lender-side transactions is highly desirable; borrower-side experience will also be considered.
- Training with a reputable City, international, or top-tier firm.
- Strong technical grounding in financing documentation and principles.
- Exceptional drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing team with demanding transactional timelines.
- Commercial awareness, attention to detail, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
