International Law Firm – London (Hybrid)

I’m working with a highly respected international law firm that’s looking for a skilled and proactive Azure Data Engineer to join their forward-thinking Data team. This role is a great fit for someone who thrives on solving complex data challenges and wants to directly influence how a global legal business uses its data to make smarter decisions.

As part of the Strategy, Transformation & Project Delivery function, you’ll be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimising the firm’s Azure-based data infrastructure, from building scalable data pipelines to ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance.

The Role

  • Data Infrastructure Development – Build and maintain scalable Azure data pipelines (following Senior Data Architect designs) using tools such as Azure Data Factory and Tray.io. Implement and manage data lakes and warehouses (Azure Synapse, Azure Data Fabric, etc.).
  • Integration & Transformation – Develop ELT/ETL processes, integrate data from multiple systems (finance, HR, CRM, practice management), and ensure consistency across the business.
  • Governance & Security – Apply GDPR and UK data protection best practice, secure data transfers, and manage access controls for sensitive information.
  • Performance Optimisation – Audit, fine-tune, and optimise Azure resources for cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaboration – Work closely with IT, Finance Systems, Marketing, and legal teams, ensuring analytics and reporting teams have clean, structured data.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure data services (Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database).
  • Experience building ELT/ETL pipelines and managing data workflows.
  • Proficiency in PySpark, Python, SQL, or Scala.
  • Strong data modelling and relational database knowledge.
  • Solid understanding of GDPR and UK data protection.

Preferred

  • Power BI experience.
  • Familiarity with legal industry platforms.
  • Awareness of evolving data tools and technologies.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (desirable).
  • Azure Data Engineer Associate / Azure Solutions Architect certifications (highly desirable).

If you’re a technically strong Azure Data Engineer with a knack for turning complex data into practical business insights, this is an excellent opportunity to make a measurable impact.
