Job Description Test Engineer | Automation | Public Sector | Contract
SR2 is supporting a consultancy partner delivering services into the public sector, and we’re looking for an experienced Test Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and secure digital services.
The role will suit someone with a strong automation-first mindset, comfortable working across browser, API, accessibility, and security testing within a modern delivery environment.
The Role You’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automated test coverage across multiple devices and platforms, ensuring services meet functional, non-functional, accessibility, and security standards expected of government-facing systems.
Key Responsibilities
\n Designing and maintaining automated browser-based test suites
\n
Executing cross-device and cross-browser testing
\n
Validating RESTful APIs and data integrity
\n
Embedding accessibility and security testing into the test approach
\n
Working closely with developers and delivery teams within an agile environment
\n
Contributing to quality assurance best practice across the programme
\n
Essential
\n Cross-device testing using BrowserStack
\n
Strong automation experience using Selenium
\n
Programming experience with Ruby
\n
BDD experience using Cucumber / Gherkin
\n
Accessibility testing using tools such as WAVE and pa11y
\n
Security testing experience with OWASP ZAP and/or Dependency Check
\n
Experience using browser developer tools including Lighthouse and JavaScript debug consoles
\n
API testing experience using Postman or Newman with RESTful APIs
\n
Strong version control experience using Git, GitHub, or GitLab
\n
Desirable
\n Performance testing experience using JMeter or BlazeMeter
\n
Familiarity with the GOV.UK Design System and assuring compliance with design patterns
\n
Experience configuring or working with CI/CD pipelines to execute automated tests
\n
The Details Contract role Outside IR35 Remote Rate: £400p/d
