Automation Engineer Storage & Platform (Python / CI/CD / APIs)Contract: 6 months (initial)Location: London, Birmingham or Edinburgh (3 days onsite, 2 remote)Rate: Competitive (inside IR35)OverviewWere supporting a Tier 1 financial services organisation in hiring multiple Automation Engineers to join a critical platform engineering function responsible for large-scale storage and data infrastructure across a global estate.This role is focused on building high-quality automation solutions, not manual operations or basic scripting. Youll be working in a DevOps-oriented environment, engineering reusable tooling and services that support provisioning, migration, integration, and platform standardisation.What Youll Be Doing Designing and building scalable automation solutions for infrastructure platforms (storage, compute, cloud) Developing production-quality Python code (modular, testable, maintainable) Building and owning CI/CD pipelines for automation tooling (build, test, deploy) Engineering API integrations between systems (REST APIs, authentication, error handling, retries, idempotency) Automating end-to-end processes such as: provisioning migrations compliance and remediation workflows Contributing to Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform or equivalents) Implementing logging, monitoring, and observability for automation services Collaborating with platform, cloud, and DevOps teams to deliver infrastructure as-a-service What Were Looking ForMust-have experience Strong Python engineering capability (clean code, modular design, testing frameworks, maintainability) Proven experience building and owning CI/CD pipelines (tooling flexible Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps, etc.) Hands-on experience with API integration and automation (REST, authentication, retries, logging, idempotent design) Demonstrated automation mindset (building reusable tools/platforms, not one-off scripts) Solid software engineering practices (version control, code reviews, documentation) Strongly preferred Experience automating infrastructure or platform environments Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code / configuration tools (Ansible, Terraform, or similar) Experience with large-scale migrations or platform transformation Exposure to observability patterns (logging, monitoring, alerting) Nice to have (not essential) Experience with storage or data protection platforms (e.g., enterprise storage, backup/recovery tooling) Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure environments (Linux, Windows, cloud platforms) Experience in regulated or large-scale enterprise environments Working Model Hybrid: 3 days per week onsite (London, Birmingham, or Edinburgh) 2 days remoteAdditional InformationInitial 6-month contract, with strong likelihood of extension Competitive day rate (inside IR35) Opportunity to work on large-scale, business-critical platform automationJBRP1_UKTJ
