We are seeking an Associate Director of Clinical Quality and Regulation to work in the Quality and Professions Directorate under the leadership of the Chief Nurse. Core to this role is the portfolio for patient experience and patient safety. You will work with a highly skilled team to drive patient safety across GMMH and continue to improve how we hear from people who use our services, their carers and families as well as the communities we serve. As a clinician with breadth of experience in mental health services, you will lead portfolio work such as the interpretation of biological sex within the sexual harm agenda, ensure the QEIA processes are effective and provide timely reports to committees and groups. The post holder will be responsible for Clinical Quality and Regulation which includes the delivery of Experience and Engagement, Patient safety (PSIRF), CQC compliance, quality visits and accreditation processes, learning lessons, complaints and inquest activity. You will deputise for the Chief Nurse on matters pertaining to quality and regulation, ensuring the appropriate structures and processes are in place and participating in the strategic on‑call rota. Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of patient experience and engagement initiatives. Oversee patient safety reporting (PSIRF) and related quality improvement activities. Ensure CQC compliance and manage quality visits and accreditation processes. Lead the learning lessons, complaints and inquest activity across GMMH. Deputise for the Chief Nurse on quality and regulation matters. Participate in the strategic on‑call rota and support governance frameworks.
Qualifications
Degree-level qualification (minimum). Evidence of active continued professional development to support a clinical leadership role. Professional clinical registration such as Registered Nurse (MH), OT, psychologist or medic. Experience and knowledge of senior clinical management in a large NHS organisation. Knowledge of safeguarding and legal duties expected of NHS organisations (Level 3 ICD). Demonstrated success in managing large‑scale change and line management. Experience of chairing and managing sub‑board level meetings. Experience in clinical governance, CQC improvement, incident management, patient safety and complaints. Knowledge of NHS strategic agenda implementation and budget management. Strong communication, influencing, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills. Excellent report writing and presentation skills. IT literate to a high standard and able to manage multiple agendas.
Desirable
Masters or postgraduate qualification in clinical governance, risk or safety. Experience in quality governance roles such as patient safety or quality improvement. Experience of implementing national guidelines and frameworks with demonstrable improved ratings.
