About Your Role
The stations team within WSP’s rail business is actively seeking an Associate Director MEP (Rail) to lead teams delivering rail MEP building services for major railway projects. The role includes all aspects of technical delivery from concept to RIBA 4 / GRIP 5 stages, client engagement and internal multi‑disciplinary coordination. The team offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate to enhance their career and deliver some of the most prestigious rail projects in the UK and overseas.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the rail stations M&E design team.
liaise M&E design with the client and contractors.
Act as focal point between the client team and the WSP design team.
Work closely with the M&E design team to resolve design issues.
Lead a team of M&E engineers.
Have working knowledge of the design of rail stations mechanical, electrical and public health systems, with additional advantage in telecoms and fire systems.
Apply compliance requirements to building regulations, Part L and other MEP sustainable and net‑zero design requirements.
Realise WSP’s and the client’s net‑zero carbon commitments by delivering highly sustainable, low‑carbon design.
Share knowledge and technical skills with colleagues worldwide.
Interpret client specification requirements and various standard requirements in the development of designs.
Understand contractual and commercial aspects such as employer’s instruction, early warnings and other contractual correspondences.
Qualifications
Experience leading MEP/Fc building services design team in the rail environment during design and construction stage.
Qualifications meeting the requirements for chartership with a UK engineering institution.
Understanding of:
HS2, Network Rail and/or London Underground standards.
M&E building services design requirements in rail or a similar regulated environment.
Working with M&E client/contractors during initial design, detailed design and preferably construction stage.
