Job Description
You will be involved in delivering:
Expert Witness services by assisting our delay experts in delivering delay reports for adjudication, litigation and other forms of dispute resolution.
Recovery services by assisting our contract and commercial specialists in providing strategic advice to clients whose projects and major programmes are in commercial distress.
Successful applicants will work in a team undertaking detailed analysis of construction projects in the UK and internationally. The role offers an opportunity to establish a personal reputation as an expert and to progress through a dedicated mentoring programme, lead on strategic objectives and grow market presence with direct support from the UK leadership team.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate a forensic and exploratory mindset.
Maintain strong knowledge of the construction industry and construction contracts and law.
Value transparency and collaboration.
Work independently where required and adapt agilely to the working methods of others.
Ensure deliverables are of a high standard capable of withstanding scrutiny by other parties.
Assist clients, lawyers and counsel in developing positions and drafting detailed expert witness reports for formal dispute resolution proceedings.
Provide direction to staff on specific tasks and support the interface with the client and other consultants at all project stages.
Act as an ambassador championing the Contract Services delivered by Turner & Townsend in the industry.
Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
Qualifications
Relevant construction and engineering industry experience of 10+ years.
A construction‑related degree qualification and/or a legal qualification.
Experience leading pursuit of claims up or down the supply‑chain, resulting in successful negotiated resolution.
Ability to understand and articulate client requirements and desired outcomes.
Critical analysis of project and major programme performance, identifying root causes and distressed elements.
Lead development of contract and commercial strategies to recover performance of distressed projects or major programmes in line with client outcomes.
Effective stakeholder management with clients and at all levels of the supply‑chain, including chairing meetings with clients and other advisors.
Review and assess contemporaneous project records to establish delays associated with claims or disputes.
Provide strategic advice on proceeding or amending the basis of claims.
Support drafting and lead drafting of detailed expert witness reports for formal dispute resolution proceedings.
Stay abreast of developments within the technical area of expertise.
Provide direction to staff working on specific tasks.
