Spotify is seeking an innovative and strategically-minded Associate Director to lead the development of our Audiobook consumer propositions. This will involve building business plans for evolving our consumer value proposition, expanding into new markets and testing into new formats.
We are looking for someone who is equal parts strategist and operator. You’re adept at big‑picture strategic thinking and you know how to execute, bringing strategy to life owning the subscriber funnel, leading high‑velocity experimentation, and driving measurable acquisition and retention metrics.
This is a high‑impact, cross‑functional role that requires strategic acumen, applied growth experience, business modeling expertise, and a passion for reading. The position reports to the Director of Audiobooks Growth and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Books on Spotify.
What You'll Do
Build a roadmap for market and format expansion to capture more of the book industry, evaluating the business impact, prioritising initiatives to invest in, and execute against them. Example projects include:
Developing a strategy on how to scale our Audiobooks+ add‑on business into a leading subscription product
Developing the growth case and strategic roadmap for market expansion – overseeing the project through to completion, navigating operational and strategic complexities
Developing growth strategies for new Book monetisation initiatives, from early concepting through to leadership recommendation and execution
Scoping white‑space opportunities such as ad‑supported tiers, book clubs, interactive formats and underserved genres
Become an expert on Audiobooks performance on Spotify and the overall industry – understanding growth trends, market share, business model and overall P&L – ultimately helping to identify and inform key investment areas.
Guide and review analytical work across projects, raising the bar on rigor, clarity, and strategic thinking.
Partner with Product, Consumer Research, Data Science, and Finance to translate insights into clear, actionable strategies.
Who You Are
10+ years of experience in growth and strategy, ideally within technology, subscriptions, media or publishing.
Experienced in evaluating early‑stage investment bets, developing and launching new business lines and products.
Comfortable operating with ambiguity and enjoying shaping new ideas where the path forward isn’t fully defined.
Strong analytical chops, experienced with metrics frameworks and grounding recommendations in solid data.
Excited by the opportunity to shape the future of books on Spotify.
Creative problem‑solver who is part player, part coach – a high‑impact individual contributor capable of influencing cross‑functional teams and stretching into a management role.
Proactive, independent problem‑solver able to balance big‑picture thinking with analytical detail.
Effective communicator, collaborator, and operator who can manage in fast‑paced environments and influence senior stakeholders in a matrix organisation.
Experience working with large datasets; familiarity with SQL or BigQuery is a plus; skilled in the use of AI tools.
Where You'll Be
This role is based in New York, New York or London, United Kingdom.
