About the CompanyThis job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.12th March, 2026Role OverviewThe role is for an Associate / Associate Director level Geotechnical Engineer to help lead and develop the geotechnical capability. This is a senior opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional with strong technical expertise in earthworks, foundations and ground engineering design, combined with excellent commercial awareness and client relationship skills. The role will play a key part in leading projects, mentoring engineers and supporting the growth of the geotechnical team across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, development and ground engineering schemes.ResponsibilitiesTechnical LeadershipLead geotechnical design across projects involving earthworks, foundations and ground engineering.Provide technical oversight on ground investigations and interpretative reporting.Review and approve geotechnical assessments, design reports and specifications.Ensure high technical standards across project delivery.Project DeliveryManage geotechnical projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.Provide technical input to planning, infrastructure and development schemes.Client & Commercial ManagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.Support business development, proposal preparation and tender submissions.Contribute to the commercial performance of projects and the wider team.Team LeadershipSupport and mentor junior engineers and develop the geotechnical capability within the business.Provide technical guidance and review work produced by the wider team.Help shape the growth and strategic direction of the geotechnical offering.RequirementsEssentialSignificant experience in geotechnical consultancy or engineering design.Strong technical background in earthworks, foundation design and ground engineering.Experience leading projects and working directly with clients.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong commercial awareness and ability to support business development.Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.PreferredChartered Engineer status (ICE or equivalent).Experience working on infrastructure, development or major ground engineering projects.Previous experience in a senior, Associate or team leadership role.BenefitsCompetitive salary depending on experienceAnnual performance bonusCar allowanceCompany pension schemePrivate medical insuranceLife assurance coverHybrid / flexible working arrangements25-30 days annual leave plus bank holidaysProfessional membership fees paid (ICE, Geological Society etc.)Ongoing professional development and training supportSupport towards further chartership or professional qualificationsClear progression pathway to Technical Director / Director levelOpportunity to lead and grow a geotechnical teamInvolvement in major infrastructure and development projectsEmployee wellbeing programmeCycle to work schemeInclusivity StatementWe are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected.
