Role Overview
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in the day-to-day operations of the Selfridges retail concession.
Working within a fast-paced luxury retail environment, you will ensure the delivery of an exceptional customer experience, strong commercial performance, and full compliance with both Ladurée standards and Selfridges policies and procedures.
You will act as the Store Managers deputy, supporting team performance, operational excellence, and maintaining the highest retail standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operational Support
Support the Store Manager in overseeing daily retail operations of the concession.
Ensure full compliance with Selfridges policies, procedures, and ways of working.
Assist with rota planning to align staffing with trading patterns and peak footfall.
Take responsibility for the concession and team in the absence of the Store Manager.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing retail team.
Provide on-the-floor coaching to drive sales performance and service standards.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of team members.
Foster a professional, accountable, and customer-focused culture.
Customer Experience & Sales Excellence
Deliver a premium retail experience aligned with Ladurée and Selfridges luxury service expectations.
Drive conversion, average transaction value, and units per transaction.
Ensure strong product knowledge across all team members to support effective selling.
Handle customer queries and complaints with professionalism and discretion.
Compliance & Brand Standards
Ensure strict adherence to Selfridges operational standards, including health & safety, store compliance, and conduct.
Maintain Ladurée brand standards across product presentation, packaging, and visual merchandising.
Ensure the concession consistently meets both Ladurée and Selfridges visual expectations.
Support and prepare for audits or compliance checks.
Sales & Commercial Performance
Support delivery of sales targets and KPIs within a high-footfall retail environment.
Monitor daily sales performance and identify opportunities to drive revenue.
Implement upselling and cross-selling strategies to maximise spend per customer.
Support execution of seasonal launches and in-store activations.
Stock Management & Control
Oversee stock processes including deliveries, stock counts, and replenishment.
Ensure accurate stock control and minimise shrinkage and wastage.
Maintain strong organisation of stock rooms in line with compliance standards.
Work closely with Store Manager to forecast and manage stock levels.
Communication & Collaboration
Maintain regular communication with the Store Manager on performance and operational matters.
Build strong working relationships with Selfridges management and concession teams.
Ensure clear communication of targets, product updates, and promotions to the team.
Support reporting processes including sales, cash handling, and compliance documentation.
Key Requirements
Minimum 12 years experience in a supervisory or Assistant Manager role within retail or luxury environments.
Strong experience in retail sales performance and KPI delivery.
Experience working in a department store or concession environment is highly desirable.
Proven ability to lead teams in high-footfall retail environments.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Flexibility to work weekends and peak retail trading periods.
Desirable
Experience within Selfridges or similar luxury department stores.
Passion for luxury retail and premium products.
Additional language skills are advantageous.
