Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a subcontractor operating in the new build housing sector to be based in the Northamptonshire area.\n\nRole: Assistant / Intermediate Quantity Surveyor\nLocation: Northamptonshire\nSalary: Up to £45,000 + Car Allowance + Package\n\nAbout your new company:\n\nA fantastic opportunity to join a specialist subcontractor operating in the new building housing sector.\n\nDuties for the Assistant Quantity Surveyor:\n\n * Preparing valuations for interim application for payment including variations.\n\n * Preparing and negotiating final accounts.\n\n * Pricing variation orders and charging the client accordingly.\n\n * Monitoring costs to ensure works are within budgets.\n\n * Visit live sites to ensure works are running correctly.\n\n * Document control.\n\n * Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.\n\n * Negotiating costs and prices.\n\n * Attending on-site meetings.\n\n * Producing cost value reconciliations.\n\n * Ensure contract cash flow is maintained.\n\n * Preparing turnover and profit forecasts.\n\nRequirements for the Assistant Quantity Surveyor\n\n * HNC / Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying / Construction management or equivalent\n\n * 2-3 years experience within subcontracting ideally in the new build housing sector.\n\n * A good understanding or building regulations and legal obligations\n\n * A good knowledge or construction methods and materials\n\n * Strong mathematical and IT ability\n\n * Good understanding of standard measurement rules\n\n * Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge\n\n * Ability to assess and analyse information\n\n * Good business sense\n\n * Good understanding of budget management\n\n * Negotiating and networking skills\n\n * Excellent communications skills\n\n * Able to work under pressure and accept criticism of work\n\n * Good team working skills\n\n * Accurate with an eye for detail\n\n * A methodical approach\n\n * Willing to work extra to meet deadlines as and when the business needs require
