They have been operating for 20 years with a very strong pipeline of work for the next few years secured already.
Due to continued growth and an expanding project pipeline, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of key projects.
The Role
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in managing the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects from procurement through to final account.
Working closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, you will gain exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of projects while developing your career within a fast-growing technical contractor.
This role is ideal for a recent Graduate in Quantity Surveying, or circa 1–2 years’ industry experience looking to progress within a supportive commercial team.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with cost management and commercial reporting on construction projects.
Support preparation of cost plans, budgets, and project forecasts.
Assist in monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks or opportunities.
Assist in subcontractor procurement, including issuing enquiries and analysing tender returns.
Support the preparation and management of subcontract agreements and orders.
Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
Assist with monthly valuations, applications for payment, and cost reporting.
Support the assessment and certification of subcontractor applications.
Assist with preparation of variations, change control and final accounts.
Ensure commercial procedures are followed in line with project requirements.
Support the management of contractual documentation and records.
Candidate Profile
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or equivalent field
Desirable experience circa 1–2 years’ in a commercial / QS role within the construction industry, but recent graduate
Good understanding of construction processes and cost management principles.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
