£35,000 – £40,000 + Company Car + Fuel Card

A specialist civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of a range of civil engineering projects. The business operates across the UK, delivering technically challenging civils works for repeat clients within both the public and private sectors.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to gain hands-on experience within a supportive commercial team, working closely with senior surveyors and project teams while developing a strong grounding in civil engineering and NEC contracts. The company actively supports professional development, including RICS chartership.

Key responsibilities will include:

Assisting with the commercial and contractual management of projects from pre-contract through to final account.

Supporting the administration of NEC and other standard forms of contract.

Assisting in the preparation of valuations, applications for payment and variation submissions.

Supporting cost control, forecasting and cash flow reporting.

Assisting with subcontract procurement, comparisons and appointment.

Helping manage subcontractor accounts, payments and variations.

Supporting the identification and management of commercial risk.

Working closely with site and project teams to ensure accurate cost capture and reporting.

Requirements:

Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Trainee Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering or construction.

Exposure to civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

Good commercial awareness and willingness to learn.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline (or working towards).

Interest in working towards RICS chartership.
