Assistant Quantity Surveyor – HG Construction\n\nLocation: Manchester\n\nSalary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum (DOE)\n\nContract: Full-Time, Permanent\n\nReports to: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager\n\nAbout The Client\n\nMy Client is a leading UK design-and-build contractor known for delivering complex, innovative and high-quality projects across residential, student living, commercial, hotels and later-living sectors. With a strong team culture, commitment to excellence and a clear focus on client satisfaction, they provide exciting opportunities for career growth and professional development. \n\nRole Overview\n\nAs an Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will support the Commercial / Quantity Surveying team in delivering high-value construction projects from pre-contract through to project completion.
You will gain valuable hands-on experience across cost planning, procurement, valuation, contractual administration and commercial reporting, working closely with lead surveyors and project teams.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nSupport preparation of cost plans, estimates, tender documents and bills of quantities. \n\nAssist with procurement activities including subcontractor enquiries, analysis and negotiation. \n\nMonitor project budgets, valuations and financial performance throughout the contract lifecycle.
\n\nPrepare interim valuations, variations, cost reports and assist with final accounts. \n\nAttend site visits and liaise with project teams, subcontractors and supply chain as required. \n\nMaintain accurate commercial records and support senior QS colleagues with administrative duties.
\n\nThe Candidate\n\nDegree or HND/HNC in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline – or working towards qualification. \n\nSome practical exposure to commercial or QS-related tasks (placement year, or site experience advantageous). \n\nStrong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
\n\nGood communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team. \n\nProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); knowledge of QS software is a plus. \n\nFull UK driving licence but not essential.\n\nThe Package\n\nCompetitive salary with performance reviews.
