Job Description

An established and growing construction contractor is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its regional commercial team based in Durham. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career while working on a varied portfolio of high-profile projects across the North East.\n\nYou will support the commercial delivery of projects across high-rise commercial, residential, industrial, and logistics sectors, working alongside experienced commercial managers from pre-construction through to final account.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nAssist with the commercial management of multiple construction projects.\n\nSupport cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting.\n\nMeasure works and assist with interim valuations and applications for payment.\n\nAssist with subcontract procurement, valuations, and account administration.\n\nMaintain accurate commercial records and cost reports.\n\nAttend site meetings and progress reviews as required.\n\nAbout You\n\nDegree qualified or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management or similar.\n\nExperience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor role, ideally with a main contractor.\n\nExposure to JCT and/or NEC contracts would be advantageous.\n\nStrong commercial awareness with good numerical and analytical skills.\n\nOrganised, proactive, and keen to progress within a structured team environment.\n\nCompetent in Microsoft Excel and Office.\n\nWhat's On Offer\n\n£35,000 - £45,000 salary, depending on experience.\n\nCar allowance or company vehicle.\n\nStructured career progression and mentoring from senior commercial staff.\n\nSupport towards professional accreditation (e.g. RICS).\n\nPension scheme with employer contribution.\n\nPrivate healthcare and employee wellbeing support.\n\nEnhanced annual leave and family-friendly policies.\n\nLong-term role within a financially stable and growing regional contractor
