Projects typically involve complex refurbishments, bespoke new builds, and high-end finishes requiring close commercial control and collaboration across all disciplines.\n\nRole Overview\n\nThe Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial team in the successful delivery of projects from pre-construction through to final account. This role provides exposure to all aspects of quantity surveying within a high-end construction environment.\n\nWorking closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Leads, the successful candidate will assist in managing costs, procurement, subcontractor accounts, and financial reporting while gaining hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a quality-driven contractor delivering complex, high-value schemes.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nCommercial Support\n\nAssist in the preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans\nSupport the production of monthly cost reports and financial forecasts\nHelp track project expenditure and identify potential risks or cost overruns\nAssist with the administration of contracts and commercial procedures\n\nProcurement\n\nSupport the procurement of subcontract packages, including issuing enquiries and analysing returns\nAssist in the preparation of tender documentation\nContribute to subcontractor selection and appointment processes\nHelp ensure procurement aligns with programme and budget requirements\n\nSubcontractor Management\n\nAssist in the management of subcontractor accounts from award through to final account\nSupport the valuation and certification of subcontractor payments\nHelp manage variations, change control, and contractual notices\nMaintain accurate records of subcontractor performance and financial status\n\nProject & Team Collaboration\n\nWork closely with site teams, project managers, and design teams to ensure commercial objectives are met\nAttend project meetings and contribute to commercial discussions\nAssist in resolving commercial issues and supporting project delivery\n\nCandidate Profile\n\nExperience & Background\n\nSome relevant experience within a main contractor environment (placement year or post-graduate experience considered)\nExposure to residential, refurbishment, or high-end projects is beneficial but not essential\nBasic understanding of quantity surveying principles and construction processes\nAwareness of procurement routes, including 2-stage tendering (advantageous)\n\nSkills & Attributes\n\nStrong numerical and analytical skills\nGood attention to detail and organisational ability\nClear communication skills, both written and verbal\nProactive and motivated with a willingness to learn\nAbility to work collaboratively within a team environment\nCommercial awareness and an interest in cost management\n\nWhat's on Offer\n\nOpportunity to work on some of London's most prestigious super prime residential projects\nStructured support and mentoring from experienced commercial professionals\nExposure to all aspects of the project lifecycle\nStrong pipeline of secured work providing long-term stability\nCompetitive salary and benefits package\nClear career progression within a growing and respected business\n\nCareer Development\n\nThis role offers a clear pathway for progression into a Quantity Surveyor position.
