Role Overview
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager in the commercial management of construction projects for external clients.
You will report directly to a Senior Quantity Surveyor.

Key Responsibilities
Understand and promote Health & Safety procedures across projects and supply chains
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Work in accordance with commercial tracking processes
Supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor:
Prepare bills of quantities and remeasure works
Procure subcontractors in line with project procurement strategies
Manage project costs across a range of schemes
Undertake cost-value analysis and reporting
Price variations and agree with clients
Value ongoing works and agree final accounts
Prepare cost-to-complete forecasts and project budgets
Identify and manage risks and opportunities
Provide commercial advice to site teams
Develop understanding of construction contracts in use
Prepare and analyse tender costings
Assist with contractual claims
Maintain accurate records with operational teams
May be required to lead projects with senior support

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
Degree in a construction-related discipline or currently in final year of study
Desirable:
Evidence of continued professional development
Experience & Skills
Essential:
Experience managing property-related contracts (e.g. housing sector)
Proven delivery of high-quality commercial services
Experience working with multiple stakeholders
Experience issuing tender enquiries
Desirable:
Construction industry experience
Experience working across multidisciplinary teams
Procuring external consultants
Negotiating claims and variations
Preparing financial reports
Experience with JCT contracts
Appraising tender returns
Placing contractor orders
Managing subcontractor commercial processes
Forecasting project costs and final values
Managing variations for subcontractors and clients
