About Cawarden

Cawarden is a specialist contractor delivering demolition, earthworks, civils, and groundworks projects across the Midlands.

Over the last 5 years our Civil & Groundworks division has grown from £1m to £12m turnover, and we’re now targeting £20m+ with a strong pipeline of secured work and repeat clients.

We’ve recently moved into a brand-new office we built ourselves, and we’re continuing to invest in building a young, ambitious team to support our next phase of growth.

The Role


We are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to join our growing groundworks and civils division.

This is a hands-on role offering a mix of site, office, and hybrid working, where you’ll be expected to contribute from day one while developing your commercial skills.

You will work closely with the Commercial Director and wider team, gaining exposure across live projects and taking on increasing responsibility as you develop.


Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and submitting applications for payment
  • Pricing and managing variations
  • Supporting valuations and final accounts
  • Monitoring project costs and budgets
  • Assisting with procurement of subcontractors and materials
  • Issuing contractual notices in line with obligations
  • Coordinating with site teams and managing documentation


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in groundworks, civils, or a related construction sector
  • HNC/HND or working towards / completed a construction-related degree
  • Strong numerical and commercial awareness
  • Organised, proactive, and willing to take responsibility
  • Comfortable working across both site and office environments
  • UK driving licence

  • Managing variations with guidance
  • Building strong relationships with site teams & clients
  • Taking ownership of elements of live projects
