Our office is conveniently located in the city centre office of Bristol and is home to a small team of cost and project managers working on projects within Bristol and the surrounding areas. The office environment could be described as energetic, vibrant and welcoming. Hybrid working is standard within the business.
The role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects across the built environment. This can include projects within the retail, residential, commercial and healthcare sectors, to name a few. Key tasks and responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor role include:
- Working as part of a team of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers reporting into the Technical Director whilst assisting in the provision of cost consulting duties to our clients.
- Ensure that our clients achieve their stated objectives through close teamwork, proactive cost control and the provision of contractual advice.
- Attend and/or chair meetings with client.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports.
- Monitor the communication of a project status.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documentations and the wider tender process.
- Contribute to management reports.
- Monitor performance milestones and deliverables.
- Administer cost/variation procedures.
- Assist in the day-to-day cost management of projects from estimate preparation and cost planning through to final account settlements.
- A relevant degree or master’s qualification in quantity surveying or a similar RICS accredited subject is essential.
- Passionate about becoming chartered with the RICS. Full support can be provided.
- Prior experience of working in a Quantity Surveying role for a similar consultancy carrying out full pre and post contract duties would be advantageous. However, we would also consider applications from recent graduates of RICS accredited courses seeking a first role as a Quantity Surveyor.
- A theoretical knowledge of the fundamental pre and post contract duties carries out by a professional quantity surveyor. Ideally with some practical exposure to some of these during your education or relevant work experience.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and embrace new responsibilities to aid your career development and make a meaningful impact with our team.
- Confident personality with strong communication skills and the ability to represent TSA Riley positively when communicating with our clients.
- Strong IT skills and the ability to use full MS Works packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc and learn new software packages.
