An established specialist SEND provision in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Assistant Headteacher to join on a permanent basis.
This is a pivotal leadership role within a small, values-led setting supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEMH. The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher to provide strong operational leadership and ensure high standards across safeguarding, behaviour, and quality of education.
The Role:
  • Provide visible, consistent leadership across the provision
  • Lead on behaviour, inclusion and safeguarding systems
  • Support and develop middle leaders and teaching staff
  • Strengthen operational processes and compliance
  • Contribute to quality assurance, school improvement planning and inspection readiness
  • Help embed a calm, high-expectation culture
  • This is primarily a non-teaching or light-teaching role, focused on operational leadership and strategic impact.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • QTS essential
  • Proven senior leadership experience within SEND / SEMH / alternative provision
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and regulatory understanding
  • Confident line manager with the ability to coach and hold colleagues to account
  • Practical, steady leadership style with high visibility
