Head4Talent are working exclusively with a leading manufacturing/distribution business on the outskirts of Bristol that are seeking to hire an Assistant Commercial Analyst to join its growing team.


This fast paced role and will have responsibility for the procurement analytics of the major raw materials and the finished goods purchased by the business to ensure market intelligence drives supplier negotiations and profit maximisation. The role will have significant interaction with stakeholders in the group such as procurement, supply chain and new product development.


Duties


  • Support the Group Commercial Analyst with significant input to the procurement strategy using data on current sales trends
  • Supplier optimisation and purchase cost reviews for existing supplier base
  • Support on profit maximisation with key input on major material cost indexes
  • Collect and analyse large volumes of data to support decision making processes
  • Compare current purchase cost vs trends in commodity material cost matrixes to alert procurement to negotiate pricing reviews with external suppliers
  • Conduct financial modelling and scenario analysis
  • Review product strategies considering new environmental policies and associated taxes

  • Excel to very high standard with prior Power BI use advantageous but not essential – the role will include using Power BI so willingness to become expert user necessary


The ideal candidate will be a commercially minded and naturally curious about what data can mean and how it can improve profitability The candidate must be able to demonstrate high attention to detail with strong analytical and numerical skills but also be able to interpret data and communicate the key messages to key stakeholders. The role will be in the Finance function, but the candidate does not have to come from an accountancy background. It is the ability to understand key profitability concepts and explain the data they review to stakeholders that overrides an accountancy background. The role will require a candidate to be site based in Bristol.
