ANZUK Education is working with a high-performing independent day school in Camden to recruit an Assistant Bursar / Finance Assistant. This is a newly approved role created to support senior operational leadership and contribute to the effective financial and business management of the school.

The Role – Assistant Bursar / Finance Assistant
You will provide essential support across finance and school business functions, working closely with senior leaders to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the school. The role will begin on a temporary basis, with a clear intention to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities include:

Supporting the Bursar with financial and operational administration
*
Assisting with budgeting, monitoring, and financial reporting
*
Processing invoices, purchase orders, and reconciliations
*
Supporting procurement processes and supplier relationships
*
Assisting with wider school business management and compliance
*
Working collaboratively with senior leaders and operational teams
*
Ensuring adherence to school policies and procedures
Working Hours & Flexibility

Flexible working pattern available
*
Preference for daily attendance (either mornings or afternoons)
*
Current flexibility, with plans to move to 2–2.5 days per week from the next academic year

Hours can be adjusted around school hours, making this a family-friendly opportunity
Role Requirements – Ideal Candidate Will:
*
Have experience as a School Business Manager, Assistant SBM, or Finance Assistant within a school setting
*
Ideally have experience within a state or independent school environment
*
Hold (or be working towards) a School Business Management qualification (desirable but not essential)
*
Demonstrate strong organisational, financial, and administrative skills
*
Be professional, proactive, and able to work independently
Career Progression Opportunity
A Director of Operations role is expected to become available in September 2027 as part of a planned leadership transition. While progression is not essential, this role offers a clear development pathway for candidates interested in future senior operational roles within education.
