About The Post

This is an exciting time to join our dynamic building maintenance team within Property Services, providing technical and advisory guidance to clients, stakeholders and the wider Facilities team. The building surveyor role requires a hands-on approach for reactive maintenance in all weather conditions and coordinating/managing planned maintenance and capital projects ensuring adherence to programmes within allocated budgets.

The attached job profile gives the full scope of the role, but here are some of the main responsibilities:

  • A proactive hands-on approach to site inspections and defect analysis, understanding when Health and Safety is priority and timely repairs of defects.
  • Preparing specifications, drawings and tender documentation for general maintenance, improvement works, refurbishments and new building schemes including adherence to the procurement process and evaluation of tender submissions.
  • Project management duties including liaising with contractors, specialists and stakeholders, whilst managing and co-ordinating delivery of projects including contract administration and quality control on site.
  • Undertake surveys in relation to condition and building surveying, analytical investigation, research and preparation of technical reports.
  • Experience with planning and building regulation applications, conservation and working with other specialist professionals/consultants.

This is a great opportunity for someone who likes variety and has the ability to manage workloads to accommodate reactive maintenance at short notice, while concurrently managing larger projects and supporting the wider Asset Management Strategy. Who are we looking for?

  • A qualified Building Surveyor (or equivalent/relevant qualification) with significant experience
  • Have experience of delivering both minor repair works and larger projects.
  • Someone who is flexible, driven and committed to supporting clients and the wider team.
  • You will be forward thinking and willing to bring forward new ideas, yet happy to learn current processes.
  • You will maintain an up to date knowledge of the legislation, policies and procedures and implement these in your daily duties
