Role Description:
As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will be part of an ever‑expanding team, working alongside experienced and highly skilled wiring technicians, as well as newer team members and apprentices. The role involves supporting mechanical assembly activities, contributing to high‑quality build and integration work within a collaborative workshop environment, and sharing knowledge to support team development and continuous improvement.
Core Duties:
- Assembly, Repair and Modification tasks on mechanical components, subassemblies and systems
- Repair and modify current and legacy products
- Provide technical support to Engineers working in design and development environments
- Using business systems and processes to record and evidence compliance
- Assisting and supporting development of apprentices and other personnel
Essential Skills:
- You are required to hold a Modern Apprenticeship certificate also known as Trade Papers (you will be required to provide these papers on application and in person) and relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
- Detailed understanding of an assembly discipline such as detailed fitting, fabrication and gear box assembly
- Ability to interpret and work to tolerances from engineering drawings
- Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of Health and Safety principles
- Adherence to Lean Principles with ability to identify and initiate continuous improvement
