Job Description
ASRS Maintenance Engineer | Leeds | Contract - start ASAP\n\nWe are currently seeking an experienced ASRS Maintenance Engineer to support an automated distribution environment. This is a hands-on contract role focused on maintaining and optimising automated storage and retrieval systems within a fast-paced 24/7 operation.\n\nYou will play a key role in maintaining system performance, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nSafety and Compliance\n\n * Work within site health and safety procedures at all times\n\n * Carry out critical inspections, reporting defects and ensuring safe operation of all equipment\n\n * Follow safe systems of work including lockout tagout procedures\n\n * Support safe maintenance and repair activities across ASRS and associated equipment\n\nMaintenance and Operations\n\n * Execute planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on ASRS equipment\n\n * Diagnose faults and carry out timely repairs on electrical and mechanical systems\n\n * Support breakdown response to minimise operational disruption\n\n * Work collaboratively with control teams and operations to coordinate maintenance activities\n\n * Complete all maintenance documentation and update the central maintenance management system\n\n * Participate in shift handovers and communicate system status clearly\n\n * Escalate issues where required and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions\n\n * Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in line with 5S standards\n\n * Manage spare parts usage, stock checks, and replenishment\n\nTechnical Responsibilities\n\n * Perform maintenance across both electrical and mechanical systems, typically 20 percent electrical and 80 percent mechanical\n\n * Work with three phase systems, motors, drives, and mechanical handling equipment\n\n * Support and interpret PLC inputs and outputs for fault finding purposes\n\n * Assist with system improvements and optimisation initiatives\n\nRequirements\n\n * NVQ Level 3 or above in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline, this is essential\n\n * Completed apprenticeship in Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience\n\n * Proven experience working on both electrical and mechanical systems\n\n * Experience with ASRS or automated warehouse systems is highly desirable\n\n * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electro-mechanical equipment\n\n * Understanding of PLC systems for fault finding\n\n * Knowledge of PUWER, LOLER, and LOTO procedures\n\n * Comfortable working at height, up to 100ft in restricted environments\n\n * Ability to work independently and as part of a shift-based engineering team\n\n * Strong communication skills and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
