About the Role
As an Asbestos Laboratory Technician, you will play a key role in the accurate analysis and reporting of asbestos-containing materials. Working within a professional laboratory environment, you will ensure all samples are processed efficiently, safely, and in line with current industry regulations and best practice standards.
Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis of asbestos bulk samples in accordance with UKAS and HSE guidance.
  • Accurately record and report analytical findings within required timeframes.
  • Maintain strict compliance with asbestos Health & Safety procedures and laboratory quality standards.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained, and used correctly.
  • Communicate results clearly with internal teams and clients where required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
Qualifications
  • P401 certification (e.g., RSPH Level 3 Award in Asbestos Bulk Analysis) or equivalent RSPH qualification is essential.
Experience
  • Proven experience working in an asbestos laboratory environment.
  • Strong understanding of asbestos legislation, regulations, and safe working practices.
Skills & Attributes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience using Microsoft Teams is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Well-organised with the ability to manage workload effectively.
