APQP Project Engineer

Due to an increase in Business my Automotive client are looking for an APQP Project Engineer to join the company on a full time and permanent basis.
My client subcontracts their services to customers in Automotive, Defence, Medical, Transport, Electronics, White goods, and general industry and operate to ISO9001 Quality standard and working towards IATF.
Duties:-
* APQP & PPAP Management for all automotive accounts
* Lead and coordinate all phases of APQP in line with automotive standards (IATF 16949, AIAG guidelines).
* Develop, maintain, and deliver APQP documentation, including Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and capability studies.
* Prepare and submit Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages to customers, ensuring approval before SOP.
* Work closely with engineering, operations, quality, sales and customers to achieve on-time project delivery.
* Facilitate cross-functional reviews, gate meetings, and problem-solving workshops.
* Ensure supplier readiness and support supplier APQP activities where required.
* Risk Identification & Mitigation
* Conduct risk analyses across processes and designs using tools such as FMEA and 8D.
* Drive action plans to reduce or eliminate risks identified during APQP phases.
* Monitor and report project milestones and timing plan.
* Support operations with prototype builds, pilot runs, and production validation.
* Participate in process audits, run-at-rate events, and capability assessments.
* Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned into future programs.
Key Skills:-
* Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plans.
* Understanding of Automotive manufacturing processes.
* Familiarity with IATF 16949 quality management systems.
* Proficient in CAD interpretation, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
* Experience of Automotive Tier 2 preferable
* Initiative and problem-solving abilities (Quality Core Tools)
* Excellent communication and time management skills
* Customer focused
* Conversant with Microsoft systems such as Outlook, Word & Excel etc
Working Hours
* 39.5 hours per week
* Mon - Thurs 8.00am - 4.45pm and Fri 8.00am - 1.30pm

£45,000 - £50,000 /annum
