As an Agency Relief Chef, you will work for one of the UK's leading recruitment agencies, providing chef cover to a variety of catering and hospitality businesses. Our clients include hotels, golf clubs, sporting venues, private clubs, garden centres, retirement villages, schools, colleges, universities, pubs, and restaurants. You will play a vital role in ensuring our clients can deliver excellent food to their customers.
Benefits: * Weekly pay * Hourly pay * Flexible working hours * Free meals while on duty * Free parking * Opportunities to gain experience in diverse venues * Training and development opportunities * Key Information: * Immediate start * Choose your working days and we will match you with suitable shifts * Flexible shift patterns available for both full-time and part-time hours * Key Responsibilities: * Independently manage your section (e.g., meat, fish, vegetables, pastry, butchery, sauces, grill, starters, fry, pantry, roast) * Supervise, engage, and train Commis Chefs and Kitchen Assistants * Delegate tasks appropriately * Work without close supervision and deliver high-quality work * Produce high-quality food with excellent culinary skills * Demonstrate a passion for ingredients and cooking * Maintain strong organisational skills * Ensure high standards of food hygiene and health and safety practices * Manage and train assigned Commis Chefs or Demi-Chef de Parties * Monitor portion and waste control to maintain profit margins * Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in creating menu items and developing dishes * Requirements: * Strong attention to detail * Enthusiasm for developing your skills and knowledge * Flexibility and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes * Good team management skills * Ability to work well with staff at all levels * Positive and approachable manner * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen * Calm and level-headed under pressure * Basic awareness of allergens, special diets, portion control, and recipe costings (especially in the care sector) * Qualifications and Experience: * City & Guilds 706/1 or 706/2 in Catering * NVQ/SVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) * Level 1 and 2 Food Safety Awards * Minimum 1 year of relevant experience * Awareness of manual handling techniques * Awareness of COSHH and chemical safety * Experience with kitchen equipment, including different knives * Proficiency in spoken and written English * Any health and safety and food hygiene courses * Desired but not essential: * Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award * Level 3 Food Safety Awards If you have what it takes to be our next Agency Chef, apply today!
