Expleo is seeking a highly capable Aerodynamics Engineer to support a major automotive OEM on a contract basis. This role is heavily focused on wind tunnel testing , with additional exposure to CFD, prototype development, and product engineering processes.
About the Role
As an Aerodynamics Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning, execution, and analysis of aerodynamic development tests. The position requires regular travel to a wind tunnel facility in Germany (typically Monday-Friday), supporting on-site test operations and ensuring high-quality data capture and analysis.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for aerodynamics in a real-world testing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support wind tunnel test activities, including planning, test execution and post-test analysis.
Support vehicle prototype builds in preparation for aerodynamic testing.
Coordinate preparation activities with engineering workshops and prototype teams.
Manage transport logistics in collaboration with logistics teams.
Conduct instrumentation setup and data analysis, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
Contribute to product design engineering activities, including:
Applying engineering principles to mechanical/aero components.
Supporting prototype design, development, test, modification, and assembly.
Conducting mathematical modelling and feasibility analysis.
Operate independently on assigned tasks, while providing guidance to lower-level engineers when required.
Solve challenging problems involving complex aerodynamics and product behaviour.
About You
You will excel in this role if you have:
A degree in Aerodynamics or Mechanical Engineering (with significant aero experience), or equivalent industry experience.
Proven hands-on experience with wind tunnel testing (essential).
Familiarity with CFD tools and processes (beneficial but not essential).
Strong analytical skills and experience with instrumentation and data interpretation.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving engineering environment.
Willingness to travel regularly to Germany for test programmes (Mon-Fri).
