About the Role
You'll be at the heart of reshaping how our business support is delivered—designing and implementing new systems, processes, and ways of working that are agile, efficient, and future-ready. This is your chance to influence significant change and help define the professional identity of support services across the directorate.
We're not just looking for someone to manage a team—we want someone who can inspire, innovate, and lead with purpose. You'll bring a clear vision for how you'll deliver the role, and the confidence to make it happen. You'll work closely with your own direct reports and wider teams to foster collaboration, drive performance, and build a shared sense of purpose. In addition, you'll engage with operational teams, corporate partners (HR, IT, property), and external stakeholders to ensure our support services are aligned, responsive, and high performing.
This role offers:
- A platform to lead key projects and service redesigns.
- The autonomy to shape your team and influence wider service delivery.
- A collaborative environment where your ideas and leadership will be valued.
- The chance to make a lasting impact on how we support our communities.
You'll need to hold a full UK Driving Licence and have the use of a car to be able to travel around the County as required.
If you're a strategic thinker with a passion for service improvement, a track record of leading high-performing teams, and the drive to deliver meaningful change—this is your moment.
Bring your vision. Lead the change. Shape the future of business support.

Local Government Reorganisation
Surrey County Council is preparing for Local Government Reorganisation which will allow us to implement the Government led policy of devolution, which is all about giving more powers to local areas.
Currently, Surrey has a two-tier council system, with 11 district and borough councils and a county council, all responsible for different services. All these councils will be reorganised into a smaller number of new unitary councils which will come into effect in April 2027. At this point, this role will be transferred, with all existing terms and conditions intact into one of the new unitary councils.
Join our dynamic team and shape the future of local government. Make a lasting impact with innovative solutions and improved services for our community. Help us build a brighter future for our residents!
