Accounts Assistant

We're supporting a fantastic business who are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This is a varied and hands‑on role offering great exposure across credit control, month‑end, cash postings, reconciliation, and group reporting.

If you're AAT‑qualified or QBE with strong general accounts knowledge, this is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive finance team with room to develop.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Control

Full ownership of the Credit Control function, including processes, collections, and continuous improvement.
Building strong relationships with customers to ensure timely payments.
Managing aged debt and implementing effective credit control strategies.

Cash Book Postings

Recording and posting daily bank transactions.
Ensuring all nominal ledger entries are accurately updated.

Month-End Accounts

Preparing journals and posting into Exchequer within strict deadlines.
Supporting stock file reconciliations and transferring data into the ERP system.
Reconciling Balance Sheet accounts including bank and VAT control accounts.
Assisting in improving reporting formats, efficiencies, and month-end processes.

Group Reporting & Statutory Audit

Providing financial information to group functions and external bodies.
Supporting audit queries and preparation of required documentation.

Additional Duties

Ad hoc finance and administrative tasks as required - this role is naturally varied and offers broad exposure across the finance function.

Required Qualifications & Experience

AAT qualified or Qualified by Experience (QBE)
Strong understanding of accounting processes, reconciliations, and financial controls
Experience within a credit control role

Desirable Skills & Experience

Competent with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Experience preparing accounts, journals, and reconciliations
Comfortable working to deadlines with strong attention to detail
Good communication skills with the ability to liaise across departments
