Môrwell Talent Solutions is delighted to be supporting a growing and highly reputable organisation in East Cardiff with the appointment of an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. The Role

This position will play a key role in supporting the finance function, with a focus on reporting, financial administration, and day-to-day accounting operations. You will work closely with the wider finance team, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery across all financial activities.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain daily client cashbooks, including cashflows and payments using Xero and HSBC

Prepare reports and accounts in line with relevant standards, ensuring audit readiness and timely submission

Perform daily finance operations including:

Bank reconciliations

Invoicing and billing analysis

Processing supplier invoices and payments

Staff expenses (e.g. PLEO)

Office for National Statistics returns

Support and maintain an effective credit control process, including managing payment terms and chasing overdue invoices

Assist in producing information for management reporting

Complete training grant submissions with full audit trail and within required deadlines

Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, auditors, and external stakeholders

Ensure compliance with internal procedures and data protection regulations

Contribute to continuous improvement within the finance function

About You

Minimum 1 – 2 years’ experience within an accounting or finance role (or a graduate with an excellent academic record)

Currently studying towards ACCA or ACA (or planning to)

Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach

Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities

Confident communicator, comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels

A team player with a flexible and professional attitude

What’s on Offer

Salary up to £34,000 doe

Study support (ACCA/ACA)

Hybrid working (initial 3 months in office, then flexibility)

Potential for 1-day WFH post-probation (performance dependent)

37.5-hour working week (core hours: 10:00–12:00 and 14:30–16:00)

24 days annual leave + bank holidays

Discretionary bonus (typically around 5%)

5% employer pension contribution
