Accounts Assistant / Assistant to Finance Director

Role Summary
Strong Group are working with a well-established and growing international business based in Hayes who are looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant / Assistant to the Finance Director.
This is a key hire within the finance team, supporting a long-standing Finance Director across both day-to-day accounting and broader commercial finance activities. The role offers strong exposure to senior leadership and is ideal for someone looking to step into a more commercially involved finance position over time.

Key Responsibilities
Supporting the Finance Director with day-to-day accounting and finance operations
Assisting with preparation of management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
Managing purchase ledger, supplier payments, and sales invoicing
Performing bank reconciliations and maintaining the general ledger
Supporting financial reporting, analysis, and performance tracking
Assisting with VAT returns and compliance requirements
Supporting credit control processes
Working closely with internal teams to provide financial insight and support business performance
Assisting with process improvements across finance systems and reporting
Providing cover for the Finance Director when required
Requirements
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant role
Experience supporting a senior finance lead (FD or Financial Controller preferred)
Advanced Excel skills (essential) – due to use of a bespoke in-house system similar to Excel
Experience using accounting software (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar)
Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
Able to work in a fast-paced, SME-style environment
Proactive, reliable, and able to take ownership of workload
Qualifications
AAT qualified or part-qualified (desirable)
Degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar (advantageous)

Hybrid working available
3 days office-based (Hayes)
2 days remote
Candidates must live within one hour of Hayes due to office attendance requirements.
