Key Responsibilities New Business & Book Building Build and develop a personal portfolio of SME and mid-market commercial insurance clients from inception Generate new business opportunities through networking, referrals, introducer relationships, and proactive prospecting Work closely with the Managing Director to align new business activity with the brokerages growth strategy Represent the business professionally at client meetings, networking events, and industry forums Client Advisory & Relationship Management Take a consultative approach to understanding prospective clients businesses, risks, and insurance requirements Design and present tailored commercial insurance solutions across core product lines Manage onboarding of new clients and retain ownership of relationships as the portfolio grows Deliver high service standards to support long-term client retention and referrals Teamwork & Collaboration Work as part of a small, collaborative team, contributing positively to the brokerages culture Collaborate closely with Account Handlers and colleagues to ensure smooth onboarding and servicing Share ideas, market insight, and best practice to support continuous improvement Insurance Market & Compliance Negotiate terms, premiums, and coverage with insurers and underwriters Ensure all activity complies with FCA regulations and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles Maintain accurate client records, documentation, and audit trails Skills & Experience Experience within a UK insurance brokerage environment Knowledge of SME and mid-market commercial insurance products Proven ability to generate new business in a consultative, relationship-led manner Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills Understanding of FCA regulatory requirements Desirable Experience building a book of business from scratch Existing professional or local business network ACII qualified or working towards Personal Attributes Relationship-focused and values-driven Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset Self-motivated, organised, and resilient Entrepreneurial and adaptable, suited to a growing business
