What You’ll Be Doing
As a Waste and Resources Consultant, you will work closely with other technical specialists within our team to provide sustainable waste and resource management solutions to our clients.
Initially, you will work on specialist projects related to waste assessment and classification to establish foundational knowledge and experience:
Complete waste assessments and classification of construction, demolition, and excavation wastes in general accordance with WM3 and other related guidance.
Manage projects from start to finish, including handling large data sets, preparing technical reports, managing project finances, and liaising with clients.
Conduct occasional site visits to undertake sampling, inspection and/or supervision of waste‑generating practices.
Following the initial specialist work, the role will broaden to include working collaboratively with colleagues and managing your own projects to deliver a wide range of outputs, supporting the development of your knowledge and expertise in broader waste and resource management:
Identify and implement sustainable solutions for waste and materials management in the civils and land development sectors.
Advise clients on material reuse mechanisms and regulatory compliance.
Support environmental permitting activities, including applications, variations and surrenders.
Prepare waste and materials management plans and associated documentation.
Provide clear, practical advice and guidance to clients before, during and after project delivery.
Who We’re Looking For
A degree in Chemistry or a geoscience‑related subject (MSc preferred).
Demonstrable experience and technical competence in waste classification and assessment in accordance with WM3 and other related guidance (desirable).
Understanding and knowledge of waste legislation and policy in the UK.
Experience within the contaminated land sector or working for an environmental consultancy would be advantageous but not essential.
Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
A proactive and adaptable mindset, eager to contribute to projects and the wider team.
A valid UK driving licence and willingness to spend some working days away from the office and home at times.
Located within an hour of Bristol or Manchester.
