Overview Enterprise Infrastructure - VMware, Networks, Storage Bristol: Hybrid working, with on-site presence expected around once per month Salary: £80,000 + Bonus, private healthcare and strong pension scheme We’re recruiting an experienced Virtualisation & Networks Manager to lead a critical enterprise infrastructure function within a highly regulated financial services environment. This is a senior management role with responsibility for the availability, resilience, security, and governance of virtualised hosting and enterprise networking platforms that support business-critical systems. The role combines people leadership, operational excellence, and strong technical credibility. Responsibilities

Lead, develop, and performance-manage a specialist infrastructure engineering team (10) Own the operational governance of enterprise on-premises and co-location environments Provide oversight of virtualisation platforms including VMware vSphere and NSX Govern complex LAN / WAN architectures, VLAN / VxLAN segmentation, firewalls, and VPN technologies Define and assure backup, disaster recovery, and resilience strategies aligned to regulatory expectations Establish and enforce infrastructure security baselines and configuration standards Drive service improvement through standardisation, automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code principles Manage key third-party suppliers, contracts, and SLAs Act as a senior escalation point and trusted advisor, clearly articulating infrastructure risk to senior stakeholders

Qualifications

Demonstrable experience managing virtualisation and network teams in regulated or complex environments Deep knowledge of VMware (vSphere / NSX), enterprise data centres, and network governance Strong understanding of operational resilience, risk management, and audit readiness A track record of improving service stability, control, and maturity The confidence and credibility to influence senior technical, risk, and business stakeholders A leadership style that balances hands-on technical understanding with effective people management
